Frequently Asked Cruise Questions

Will I need a passport to board?

Yes, all cruise ships will require US residents to carry a current, federally issued passport, as well as a government issued photo ID. This is often the case even when cruising from one US port to another US port.

Most all US Post Offices will issue a passport. Check with your local post office.

What About Travel to the Port?

We can book your air travel to the port city, including an overnight hotel stay. We strongly recommend arriving at your port city the day before embarkation, and not the day of.

We also strongly recommend staying at a hotel closest to the port because many port cities have traffic congestion, and you do not want to risk being late for your check in.

If you choose to drive to the port city, most ports have private parking lot operators which we highly recommend using.

Should I Purchase Travel Insurance for a Cruise?

Yes. This is because cruise ships will enforce very strict cancellation policies during the final payment period, and they will not issue refunds, even for medical reasons. Considering cruise costs can range from hundreds up to tens of thousands of dollars, buying travel insurance is well worth it.

We have travel insurance providers that we work with, and can offer you a variety of coverage plans.

How Far in Advance Should I Book a Cruise?

This varies greatly. Most cruise lines begin taking inventory 18 to 24 months in advance. However, it’s still common to find openings in just 30 to 60 days out. Most passengers prefer to book a year in advance to give them a comfortable amount of time to make payments.

How far you book in advance depends on your financial resources and how popular a particular cruise is.

Can People with Disabilities Take Cruises?

Absolutely! Cruise ships are required to make accommodations for passengers with disabilities. They all offer wheelchair accessible rooms, elevators, shower chairs, seat risers, and more.

Let us know of any special needs you require, even dietary restrictions, and we will make sure to find cruises that best accommodate your situation.
